Congratulations to the girls and boys cross country teams on a great performance at Belmond last night. Running the 2 mile course for the girls was Jenna Koppen, Krista Hovland, Morgan Kahler and Maria Mayland. For the boys Daniel Miller, Chance Mayland, Jordan Anderson, Brian Becker, Zach Johnson, and Brandon Willmert. Out of around 85 runners Jordan Anderson took first place. Other top finishers in the girls division included Krista Hovland 8th, Morgan Kahler 9th - For the boys Brian Becker 10th, and Daniel Miller 12th. Thanks for a great job. Coach Ewest

 

On Monday, Sept.15, the Cross Country runners will need to be dismissed at 2:35 for the meet Emmetsburg. Thanks.

 

Pep rally will be held on Friday.  All students should report to the gym at 3:10.

 

8th graders and parents – Hawkeye Stages will be here on Thursday, Sept. 18th to meet with students at 2:30 p.m. and to meet with parents at 6:00 p.m.  Deposits are due at that time.

 

DDC car wash – Sunday, Sept. 14th from 2:00-5:00 p.m. – Bison Laserwash in BC, Heartland Power in Thompson, and possibly one in Rake.  Sign-up information was distributed last Friday to 8th graders.

 

REMINDERS:

 

7th/8th boys and girls  Opus participants: remember we will have practice Friday, September 12 at 7:30 a.m. in the middle school music room.  5th/6th grade Opus participants:   our next practice is Wednesday, September 10 at 3:45 in the middle school music room.  All Opus participants:  please remember to sign up this week for a time to make your audition recording with Mrs. Kettwick.

 

Mrs. Steffensen's flex will be in Mrs. Coy's room on Tuesday and Thursday this week.  Please dismiss the volleyball players at 2:55 on Thursday - the bus leaves at 3:00 for Garner.

 

7/8 football and 7/8 volleyball schedule –

Wednesday – 7/8 FB & VB practices after school – shuttle leaves Thompson at 5:30.

Thursday – 7/8 VB games at Garner at 4:15 – bus leaves at 3:00.  7/8 FB practice after school – shuttle leaves Thompson at 5:30.

Friday - 7/8 FB & VB practices after school – shuttle leaves Thompson at 5:30 (varsity FB game is at home).

September is National Food Safety Education Month – Be Food Safe.

 

 

Clean.  Wash hands with soap and warm water for 20 seconds before and after handling food.

Separate.  Keep raw meat and poultry apart from foods that won’t be cooked.

Cook.  Use a food thermometer-you can’t tell food is cooked safely by how it looks.

Chill.  Chill leftovers and takeout foods within 2 hours and keep the fridge at 40° F or below.
