10/05/10 – Day A

 

Lunch today is:  Grilled ham and cheese, baked beans, pineapple slices.

 

Jr. magazine sales is tallied and you brought in approximately $3,500.00 in sales.  You keep 40% of that for prom and graduation expenditures.  Congratulations to Zac Ree who sold $845 in sales.  Runnerup was Taylor Thomsen with $413 in sales.  A total of 18 juniors participated out of 36 students in the junior class.  The campaign is concluded all orders will be processed this afternoon.

 

The following students should stop by the high school office today before noon to draw for magazine sales prizes:  Jessica Bruhns, Macy Heetland, Kassi Quisling, Haley Williams, Jason Rahe, Blake Huntington, Maranda Eichenberger, Haley Engelbarts, Zac Ree, Taylor Thomsen, Gabe Thomsen, Amy Peterson.

 

Good luck to the Cross Country team this week as they travel to Eagle Grove today.  Let's SINK THE VIKES on Friday! Go BLUE! 

 

Dress up days for Homecoming Week are as follows:

 

Homecoming candidates and attendants need to turn your informational sheets into Mrs. Anderson by noon today.  If you need a new sheet stop by the media center, we have more. 

 

King and queen candidates will meet Thursday, October 7th at 8:15 in the media center.  This is an informational meeting.

 

Please dismiss the CC team today at 2:30 for their meet at Eagle Grove.  Thank you.

 

There is no school tomorrow, therefore there will be no study tables tomorrow.

 

Student Council: There will be a working lunch Student Council Meeting in Mrs. Recker’s room today, Tuesday, Oct. 5th. ALL MEMBERS NEED TO ATTEND!

 

We will be having class meetings today, Tuesday Oct. 5th, during 9th hour Study Hall, to sign-up for Friday’s activities. Class meetings will be held in the following locations:                           Seniors: Multi-Purpose Room

Juniors: Chorus Room

Sophomores: Auditorium

Freshmen: Band Room

 

Reminder to Student Council Members: Please bring a 9x13 pan of bars or 2 dozen cookies for Saturday’s dance. This will be your admission into the dance.

 

Homecoming Dance: This year’s Homecoming Dance will be on Saturday, October 9th, in the high school Auditorium. The dance, with music by Titanium DJ Service,  will go from 8-11pm. Students must sign-up out of town dates in the HS Office by 3:30pm on Thursday, October 7th. No Junior High dates. Admission to the dance is $3/person. The Homecoming Court does not have to pay admission to the dance. The doors will open at 7:50pm by Mr. Myer’s office and will close by 8:45pm. Once you leave, you will not be allowed to reenter. The Student Council will be providing refreshments for all who attend. We hope to see you there!

 

Any 10th or 11th graders who have not turned in the fees for the PSAT-National Merit Scholarship Test need to do so by Thursday.  Turn them into Mr. Huntington.

 

The Iowa State Rep will be in the Guidance Office at 8:30 a.m. for those students who signed up in advance.  The NIACC Rep will be here today at 11:45 as well.

 

Students assisting with the NIHS Blood Drive should meet with Mrs. Aukes on Thursday, 10-07-2010 at 3:01 pm.  Please bring your folders and appointment lists.

 

Homecoming pep rally this week will include 2 games that we need 6 people from each class to sign up for. The sign up sheet was passed around at your class meeting last week and will be posted outside the HS office Monday and Tuesday next week.

 

The game for Spirit Points during the pep rally will be a class lead cheer. Each class can have up to 10 students and will lead the crowd in a cheer. You can NOT include current Football or Basketball cheerleaders in the game and must have a mix of boys and girls. You can come up with your own cheer or use one of the fan favorites. Crowd response will determine the winners. This week could mean a shift in the leader spot with dress up days and all kinds of games! Any points you earn on Friday during the activities will be applied to your class points for the week!

We will offer a pep bus to Belmond next Friday (October 15th). Cost is $5 and the bus will leave at 5:20pm. There will be a pick up at Farm Bureau in Thompson at 5:30. This is once again open to Middle School, High School and parents. Sign up sheet is in the HS Media Center. Students need to be signed up by Wednesday, October 13th.

 

North Iowa Destination DC students will be selling Yard Lines  at coronation, and Friday at the football field. Buy a yard line for $5.00 for 2 chances to win $25.00. Winners will be determined by where the ball is marked according to the scoreboard at the end of the 1st quarter and the end of the 3rd quarter. Winners will be announced at the game or notified following the game. You need not be present to win.

FCCLA members are reminded to bring a bag of Blow Pop suckers to the FCS room before the Oct. 25th meeting. 

 

Lifetouch picture retake day – has been scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 26th starting at 8:30 a.m. – for those that were absent on August 30th or would like a retake.  Please let the office know if you need your picture taken.  Those that are getting retakes need to return the pictures to the photographers that day.
