DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS
10/4/2007
General
Juniors—Please turn in your QSP orders to the
office today or tomorrow at the latest.
Approximate money brought in is now at approximately $3,800. (You will keep
only 40% which is approximately $1520.00.) There are some individuals who have sold above
and beyond what is expected of them, and then there are many who have not
turned in a single order. This should be
a joint effort from each individual in the class. Almost everyone will be going to prom and
this is what the funds will be used for.
Again, if you have a chance to sell tonight, please do, then turn in
your orders tomorrow.
The District FCCLA meeting will be held in Garner on Nov. 14 not Nov. 9th. The teachers will receive a list of the
members as soon as it is finalized.
Any FCCLA member that plans to go to the Cluster meeting in
FCCLA dues are due before October 16. $10.00
Seniors will be given a information
letter and parental permission slip
if they are in need of Hepatitis B vaccinations. Please take this
paperwork home to your parents. A series of three vaccinations are
recommended to provide protection against the Hepatitis B virus. These
immunizations can be given at our school clinic or your family physician.
The immunization clinics will be held 10-22-07, 11-20-07 and the final
clinic will be held after April 23, 2008. The cost is $5.00 for each
Hepatitis B vaccination or a total of $15.00 for the series of three
immunizations. The signed permission slip and payment is due to Mrs.
Aukes by 10-11-07. See Mrs. Aukes for any questions. Thank you.
There have been some questions in regards to the high school’s dress
code. The NIHS Student Handbook reads as follows:
“Students should dress appropriately. The following clothing would be
considered inappropriate, and the student will be asked to change it
immediately: Any garment with spaghetti straps; low-cut shirts; halter
tops; clothing that leaves the midriff bare; short shorts; clothing with holes
and/or clothing that reveals undergarments; ‘muscle shirts’ that are revealing;
clothing with inappropriate wording or connotation; clothing that is overly
tight and/or revealing; clothing with obscene or indecent sayings or pictures;
and clothing that advertises an alcoholic beverage or tobacco.”
Undergarments in particular have been an issue. At no time should
any undergarment be shown or revealed. There have been enough “reminders”
and warnings about such attire. Violation of this rule or any other part
of the school’s dress code may result in being sent home with the absence
recorded as an unexcused absence. Thanks for your cooperation.
Do not keep valuables in your academic lockers or athletic
lockers. If you have anything of value, it is always a good idea to leave
it at home, give it to a teacher of the office for safe keeping, or use a
padlock to lock your lockers. There is little the school can do if an
item of yours is stolen from your locker if it is not locked. Please
contact the HS office or Mr. Embrock if you need/want a padlock.
With 5 minutes in between classes, students should have plenty of time
to go to the restroom, go to their locker, get drinks of water, etc. You
should not need to leave your classroom soon after arriving to your
class. There should be little to no traffic in the hallways. If you
do need to go somewhere, you must have your passport or a pass from a
teacher. Thanks for your cooperation.
All beverages, other than water, are not allowed in the classrooms.
Student Council will have a working lunch today in the multi-purpose
room. Go to first lunch and bring your lunch to the multi-purpose
room. Also remind your Seminar teachers. Agenda items include Red
Ribbon Week, Parent/Teacher Conferences, and the sale of window decals.
Jazz Band will rehearse today during 1st seminar.
The Rep from
Students: A reminder that your attendance is key
to your success at school. You can only be absent from each class 5 times
before the possibility of losing credit. If you are absent unexcused, you
will be making up the time in which you missed in the form of detention or possibly
a
Make sure you are getting to class on time and prepared for your
class. Your first tardy from a class will result in 15 minutes of
detention. Any tardy thereafter will result in 30 minutes of detention.
Students are not allowed to leave the school’s campus unless given
permission by the HS office or Mr. Embrock.
Students who are going home for lunch:
