DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS

9/20/2007

General

Homecoming attendants and escorts and king and queen candidates need to give information sheets  to Mr. Embrock or Mr. Huntington by noon today.  Thanks.

The regular deadline to register for the October 27th ACT test is this Friday, September 21st.  Don't miss this deadline, because it costs an extra $15 to register late.

We will have an assembly on Thursday, September 20 at 2:15 in the HS Auditorium.  Classes will be shortened in the afternoon (45 minutes each class).  Students will be dismissed from class at 2:10 and then report to first floor of the Auditorium.  Our speaker is Charlie Wittmack, the first Iowan to climb Mt. Everest.  Rural bus routes will run at 3:30.

We have had some abuse to some our restrooms recently.  You should not be leaving your class unless it is absolutely necessary.  If you are in the hallways during class, you should have your planner or a pass from your teacher.  If the abuse of the restrooms continues, then students will not be allowed to checkout of classes unless supervised by a staff member.  We do not want it to come to this, so please do your part to prevent any further abuse to your school’s property.  Thanks for your cooperation.

Students are not allowed to leave the building during lunch or any other time unless they have permission from the HS office.

We will have an early dismissal on Thursday, September 27.  Please make sure you communicate this with your parents.

The Midterm of the 1st Quarter is tomorrow.  Students need to make sure all work is turned in and they keeping up on make-up.  Teachers have the discretion to give zeros for any work not completed in adequate time.  Students need to make sure they communicate with their teachers on homework and late grade expectations.

The deadline for seniors to turn their pictures into the yearbook is January 31.  Both the formal headshot and casual pose is due.  Please get these pictures to Vicki in the HS office or to Mrs. Jennifer Julsrud-Wertjes.

All Juniors report to the stage at the beginning of 1st seminar to run through the skit and song. Should not take long if everyone shows up and cooperates.

All freshmen meet in the old cafeteria during seminar today.

The Homecoming dance will be in the Auditorium from 9-12 (depending on when the FB game ends).  Since the dance will not begin until after the varsity football game, it may go until 12:30 instead.  The DJ will be set up on the stage with the dance floor on the stage as well.  Students are welcome to sit in the chairs of the Auditorium as long as you are not eating or drinking while sitting in them.  Please do not sit on the edge of the stage.  All food and beverages should be consumed outside of the Auditorium (in the hallway or FCS room).  Please do not jump on or off of the stage in the Auditorium.  Use the stairs found on each end of the stage.  The Fall Play members also ask that you do not sit on or move their furniture on the stage.  Please do your part to keep our Auditorium looking great.  Thanks for your cooperation.  Have a great time at the dance!

Attendance is vitally important to your learning and success in your academics.  It is difficult for teachers to give you instruction and help you when you are not present.  According to the student handbook, students can miss only 5 days of each class per semester.  You need to be fully aware of this and avoid missing class.  Keep in mind that your future employers will be asking about your attendance at school.  If you absolutely need to be absent from class/school, please bring in a note or have your parent/guardian contact the HS office.  If you have any questions about the attendance policy, refer to your student handbook or talk to Mr. Embrock.

You are welcome to play with the basketballs and volleyballs in the gym during lunch as long as you put all of the balls away at the end of the period.  Thank you.

Juniors—Please turn in your magazine sales to Vicki if you have any brought to school
