Lunch today is:  Burritos, refried beans, sandwich, pineapple tidbits.

 

We will have a moment of silence this morning at 8:30 am in honor of the 10th year anniversary of those who lost their lives in the September 11, 2001 tragedies in New York, Washington, DC, and Shanksville, PA.  An announcement will come over the intercom.

 

Congratulations to Kory Hobbs (HS), Weston Martinson (MS) and Amber Embrock (ELEM) for being chosen as fans of the week last week!

 

Please dismiss the cross country team today at 2:30 for their meet in Emmetsburg.  Thank you.

 

Students who have permission to go home or to a direct relative’s home for lunch need to meet today in the Auditorium at 12:05 pm.

 

HS students will be doing MAP testing this week in the Multi-purpose room.  A schedule should be put into the announcements sometime this week.

 

The following FFA members need to work in the concession stand at tonights JV football game.  Please report by 5:45pm.  Blake Huntington, Maria Mayland, Macie Emery, Caleb Ricke, Alex Winter.  If you have questions see Mr. Meyer.

 

Deadline to register for the ACT test on October 22 is this Friday, September 16.  Go to www.actstudent.org our high school code is 160535.

 

A representative from Central College will be here on Tuesday, September 13 at 2:45 p.m. in the guidance office.

 

A representative from La James College of Cosmetology in Mason City will be here on Wednesday, September 14 at 3:00 p.m.

 

High School students need to turn in Parental Permission slip signed by your parent.  Starting today freshmen will have Open Campus for this week.  Open Campus is only for students whose parents attended the Open House on Aug. 23 and 24th.  Sophomores – September 19-23;  Juniors – September 24-28 (Homecoming week).  A list of students eligible for this lunch open campus during the designated weeks has been given to the Homeroom advisors.  If you are unsure of this priviledge, please see you homeroom teacher today.

 

FCCLA members will be selling Thirty-one products until Sept. 20th.  The top sales person will earn a free cosmetic bag or a utility tote.  All members that sell $200 in products may chose a free wrist wallet.

 

Students will have the opportunity to opt out of 9th period starting this week on Friday, September 16.  Students need to have an Opt Out permission form signed and turned back into the office before Friday.  Students eligible to opt out of 9th period must have all homework completed for teachers, have positive attendance, and no disciplinary issues.

 

Auditions for the Fall Play will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm today in the auditorium.

 

Juniors—Please check your email concerning magazine sales.  The office has had orders brought in from Dylan Adams and Macie Emery for sales so far.  The following students brought in Postcard Booklets—Mikaella Holstad, Dylan Adams, Jordan Anderson.

 

Students: At our athletic events, please remember to represent North Iowa well by standing during the National Anthem and the introduction of our participants and the opposing participants.  Bison Pride includes good sportsmanship!

 

Just a reminder when attending North Iowa home events that no outside food or drinks are to be allowed into the event.  Please use the regular entrances do not come/leave through open gym doors.  Once you are in an event and decide to leave you will not be readmitted unless administrative approval has been granted beforehand.

We will be offering a pep bus to next weeks game against Clay Central Everly (in Royal, IA) for kids in grades 5-12.  Cost to ride the bus is $5 and we need to have 35 kids signed up and PAID by noon on Wednesday 9/14.  Sign up is in the office.  Bus will leave at 3:45 from BC and will pick up in Lakota at 3:55 and drop off on the way home.

 

If you are interested in taking the ACT test at North Iowa High School on Saturday, October 22.  You need to register and pay fees by September 16th.  Go to www.actstudent.org to register. Use MasterCard, VISA, or Discover to pay for the exam.  The North Iowa High School Code is 160535.   See Mr. Huntington if you need further information.  The North Iowa Test Center has a capacity of 30, so don’t wait to the last minute or you will be taking it in Algona or Mason City.

 

WHO'S READY FOR WINTER COATS? Certainly that is the last thing on everyone’s minds! But fall is here and that means it's time to order letter jackets! The rep from Neff will be here on Sept 15th over the lunch hour. Order packets area available in the office by Lisa and can be picked up anytime. Jackets will be fitted and orders can be placed on the 15th. OR you can order any time online using the code listed on the fliers. Jackets ordered on the 15th should be here by the beginning of  November--which is about the time you will need another layer!

********Also, those that have ordered jackets and are interested in adding activity specific patches should stop in and see Alan (Neff Rep) when he is here. He will be able to get generic patches ordered--OR you can personalize your patches at anytime ONLINE at www.neff.com

H.S. students—If you have Open Campus, please do not bring items back to the classrooms to eat.  Seniors need to eat in the Commons or somewhere outside of school. 

 

Students are reminded when leaving their classrooms they are required to sign out and back in in that classroom.  Each classroom teacher will have a checkout sheet provided for you to sign out and in.
