Juniors
– QSP will be here today to get you started on your magazine sales drive. This fundraiser is to help pay for Prom
expenses as well as graduation expenses for your Senior year. The meeting will be after 8th
period in the Auditorium. All Juniors
are required to attend.
Please
dismiss the Cross Country students today 2:35 pm for their meet at Mason City
Newman.
All
students 9-12 interested in acting in the Fall play are to report to the
auditorium promptly at 3:05 Wednesday 9/1 for a brief power point regarding the
play. Student interested in trying out for speaking roles will be given
scripts to look over before auditions 9/2, 9/3, 9/7, and 9/8 (before and after
school) in Mr. Fisher’s room (Rm 16).
The
play will be cast by September 9th.
After
discussion with the Student Council, Seniors will be first in the lunch line,
with Juniors 2nd, Sophomores 3rd, and Freshmen 4th. Everyone should have plenty of time to
eat. Students should only be in the
Commons, North Gym lobby, or the HS Media Center during lunch.
We
will continue to have 2 lines for lunch with 2 separate windows to
access. You will receive your main food items, silverware, and napkins at
one of the windows. Students need to grab their milk before getting to
Mrs. Berschman. Thanks for your cooperation with this change.
Lunch
permission forms are in the office if students need to eat lunch at home.
This would be only for students who live in town and/or within 1 mile from the
school. The permission forms need to by signed by parent and student and
then returned to the high school office.
If
you are hanging out at “The Lot” (school parking lot area), please do your part
to pick up after yourself. Thanks for your cooperation.
Students
need to be mindful of where they are parking. Do not park on private
property; in front of private driveways, allies or mailboxes; in marked off
areas; or any other illegal places. The community is very generous and
helpful with the school in allowing you to park in areas near the school.
Please do not disrespect their generosity. Thanks for your cooperation.
HS students need to be
more mindful and respectful of our HS dress code. Please abide by the
following found in your HS student handbook (found in your planner also):
·
Students
are expected to dress appropriately and respectfully. The following
clothing is considered inappropriate: any clothing that reveals
undergarments or certain body parts (breasts, butt, or other private body
parts); clothing that is overly tight and/or revealing; clothing with inappropriate
wording or connotation; clothing with obscene or indecent sayings or pictures;
clothing that advertises alcohol/tobacco/drugs; and wearing a cap or other head
dress (bandana, hood, etc.) while in the school building during school hours.
Students
need to sign in or out of the HS office when leaving school or returning to
school.
HS
students need to avoid using the 2nd floor of the MS wing (by the MS
lockers – Multi-purpose room area). This is where the 6th and
7th grade lockers are and could cause congestion in the halls.
This would affect Band, Chorus, and Health/PE students the most. These
students should go through the Commons and lobby to get to these classes.
Also, please try not using the west hallway on the 3rd floor of the
1922 building unless absolutely necessary. This area does not have as
much congestion but is still the location of 8th grade
lockers. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
The
weight room will be open for student use after school on days Mr. Bergeson is
available to supervise.
Cell
phones are not allowed in the classrooms. They can cause a disturbance to
the classroom environment.
All
Thompson students in grades 6-7 will ride Rosella Wubben’s
bus to and from Thompson each day. She will arrive at the Thompson School building
around 7:50 a.m. each morning. All students in grade 8-12 from Thompson
will ride Don Mathahs’ bus to and from Thompson. Don will arrive at the
Thompson building at 7:15 a.m. Due to limited space there will not
be room on Rosella’s bus for 8-12th graders.
During MS volleyball practice, all volleyball players WILL ride on Rosella’s bus after school only.
