Congratulations to the following students for being selected as April Students of the Month:  Logan Hovland, Macy Heetland, Troy Kettwick, and Rachel Boekelman.  These students have demonstrated positive Citizenship traits and have represented our school and communities well.  Students of the Month for April need to meet in the office at 12:40 pm for a picture.  Congratulations!

 

Final call for Athletic Booster or Music Booster Scholarship Applications – Get them to Mr. Huntington by noon today!!

 

Please dismiss the track teams today at 3:00 for their meet in Manly.  Thank you.

 

The Boys Varsity and JV golf teams are excused at 3:10 at for their meet at Gruis.  Anyone needing a ride should meet on the west side of the school.

 

FCCLA will meet Wed. May 11th  at 7:45 in the FCS room.  Breakfast will be provided by Mrs. Larsen. Please bring a roll of duct tape to the meeting!

 

A yearbook meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 10th at 3:00 in the Elementary for anyone that did a Fall page in the yearbook.  Finalize your pages before the meeting so we will be able to do a final edit and talk about the pages.  Another meeting will be set up for the end of the week for Winter pages to do the same thing.

 

Reminder: Deadline is NOW to bring in your Senior Photos to Holly Arnevik for the yearbook.  You can also email them to arnevik@northiowa.org.  You can submit two different poses.

 

Graduation----It’s getting closer!!!!---Seniors may post graduation party invites on the bulletin board in the front hall if you like. 

 

P.E. Students---Zero hour  and 8th period wts. class will switch lifting and agility days this week. We will do agilities today.

There will be a senior boys/ dads  Grill Out on Friday, May 6 from 11:45-1:00 at Lions Park in Buffalo Center. Bring your own food and drinks to eat.

 

Softball practice begins Monday May 9th.  We will begin practice out at the field right after school for those who can make it.

 

The juniors will have a class meeting with the Herff Jones rep on Monday, May 9th at 12:30 in the FCS room.  You will be getting ready for graduation for next year.

 

Attention students 8th grade through 11th grade: The high school student council is accepting applications for the 2011-2012 school year. If you are interested in representing your class by serving as a student council member, please pick up an application in the high school/middle school office, complete it, and return it to the office by Friday, May 13th. Please read the application carefully, and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask a current student council member or Mrs. Recker!

Reminder that the remaining balances for summer cheer camp must be paid in full before we can book our camp. Please turn in your balance due ASAP! If you need to know how much/if you owe, please see Dy.

 

On May 17th, during 9th hour, an FCCLA will provide North Iowa students with  the opportunity to duct tape 3 teachers- Mrs. Recker, Mr. Meyer. Mr. Hemiller, and Mr. Embrock to a wall.  FCCLA members will be visiting 9th hour study halls starting today to sell the tape-which will be $1 per yard. You may by as many yards as you want and specify which teacher you want it to be used on. The individual that buys the most tape for each teacher may help with the taping of that person.

 

FCCLA members are reminded that you need to bring one roll of duct tape to the FCS room before May 17!!

 

Anyone interested in FOOTBALL or COMPETITION CHEER for next year can pick up a tryout packet from Dy.

 

A sign-up sheet is available in the high school office for anyone interested in taking Lifeguard Training.  You MUST be 15 years old at the start of the class to participate.  The class will start at 9:00 on Saturday, May 28 with a pre-requisite swim and introduction of materials.  It will resume on Tuesday, May 31st and run through Saturday, June 4th.  Class times will run from 9:00-12:00.  The cost is $75.  Please sign up by Wednesday, May 4th so the correct number of books can be ordered.  Anyone interested in Lifeguard RE-CERTIFICATION is also encouraged to sign up in the office.  Contact Kim Ostermann if you have any questions.

 

WANTED: Track Pictures! Help me fill the bulletin board with your favorite track photos! Email them to Dy or bring them in. Photos will be returned the last day of school 5/25.

 

There are still four vocal books that have not been turned in from the musical. Please turn in to the business office today!

 

Students that make a college visit to an Iowa Private College during Private College Week, August 1-5, 2011, can receive a free music download.   Go to www.thinkindependently.com for information.    See Mr. Huntington or Holly Arnevik for your music download card. 

 

Attention Seniors—If you still need to order graduation announcements, it’s not too late.  Herff Jones has a limited supply available on a first come, first served basis.  Please call 1-800-914-3733 for assistance. 

 

 “$500 Scholarship for NIACC by attending the free four day Youth Entrepreneurial Academy (YEA).  It is from Sunday, June 19 – Thursday, June 23rd.  You stay at the dorms during the week and all expenses are paid. Complete applications as soon as possible which are available in my office

 

The Titonka Care Center is having a carnival on May 11th from 5-7pm. Cheerleaders interested in volunteering to face paint should see Dy.
