Lunch today is:  Pulled pork on bun, corn, cherries, krispy treat. 

 

REMINDER--Students who have signed up to take driver’s education, spring session, the first class starts tomorrow, March 5th.

 

The weight room will be closed from this afternoon until Monday. 

 

FFA Parli Pro will have a working lunch today in Mr. Meyer’s room.

 

The students who received a I rating at districts please meet at the statue by the Elementary Media Center at 12:30 for a picture;  Katelin Frerichs, Brandi Swenson, Maria Mayland, Caleb Ricke, Megan Julsrud-Wertjes, Tony Wubben, Morgan Kahler, Jessica Wubben and Rachel Rolling.

 

Today will be the final day Student Council will be selling the compatibility results in the HS media center. $2 for your list of who you matched up with in your grade, $1 after that for the list of who you matched up with in the entire high school.

 

There will be an “open gym” session ran by Coach Quail, tomorrow, March 5th starting at 7:00 a.m. for any boy or girl in grades 6 through 12 interested in developing quickness and flexibility, endurance stretching, speed hurdles, and jump roping.  There is no cost for this session. 

 

Next week is the final week for the Pennies for Patients fund drive.  Let’s try and raise our goal of $4000 by next Friday.  If every student would average an $8 contribution to the effort we will easily surpass the $4000 mark.  Middle School and High School groups should maybe consider challenging another class to see who can raise the most funds.

 

There will be a girls golf sign up meeting to be held on Monday, March 7th in the ICN room at 3:30 for any girl interested in golf.  Please attend if you are interested.

 

Congratulations to the FFA members who performed at the sub-district FFA contests Monday afternoon.  Conduct of Meetings( team Silver rating alternate to district), Job Interview (Jeb K Silver advanced to Districts), Ag Sales (Garrett A Silver advanced to Districts), Parli Pro (Bronze advanced to Districts), Cody A.  (Ag Mechanics Silver), Chance M (Gold Greenhand Quiz), Derek Y (Silver Greenhand Quiz). Great Job everyone.

Senior girls Literary Circle Tea will be held on Wednesday, April 27th at the Methodist Church in Buffalo Center.  All senior girls and their mothers, grandmothers or close relative are cordially invited to attend.  Please sign up sheet in the office, to the ladies know how many to plan for.  Thanks!

 

Congratulations to the students and coaches participating in last Saturday's individual speech event in Forest City.  Rachel R., Megan K., and Jessica W. move on to state in musical theatre. Caleb R. and Megan J-Wand  will move on to state with acting entries.  Tony W. and Katelin F. move on in  poetry.  Maria M. moves on in  literary program.  Brandi S. and Tony W. move on in story telling.  Caleb R. will move on in prose.

 

There is a Hunter Education Class being offered on Saturdays, March 26th and April 9th.   Students must attend both session.  The class will be held at the Thompson school on those days.  Students must register online on the Iowa DNR website for the class.  Students must be 11 years old to attend. See Mr. Huntington if you would like to participate.  There is no cost for the class.  Space is limited to the first 24 students registered.

Dodgeball registration forms are available in the HS media center.

 

BLS cards can be picked up in Mrs. Aukes office before or after school or during your lunch hour.  Certification cards are for the students that completed extra BLS skills and paid $6.00.

 

Reminder:  There are still some students who have not turned in the student 9th period opt out form.  This form needs to be completed, signed by your parent, turned into the HS office if you wish to opt out of 9th hr. on Wednesdays and Fridays.  You can receive this form from your 9th period teacher/advisor or the HS office.

 

Also a reminder in regards to 9th period on Wednesdays and Fridays:  Any student with poor attendance, multiple tardies, unfulfilled detentions, and serious disciplinary violations will not be able to opt out of 9th period study hall those days.  If you have any questions, please talk to your teachers. 

 

Seniors please bring your senior photos that you want in the yearbook to the high school office.  You can have one formal and one casual photo and if you want to email photos send to arnevik@northiowa.org
