Lunch today is:  Turkey and swiss sandwich, peas, apricots.

 

Those students in the chorus and on the tech crew of the musical - plan to attend practice starting today at 5:45 p.m.

 

NO FFA meeting tonight due to musical practice.  FFA meeting will be held Thursday during 9th period.

 

FFA Parli Pro team will have a working lunch today.

 

Congratulations to the students and coaches participating in Saturday's individual speech event in Forest City.  Rachel R., Megan K., and Jessica W. move on to state in musical theatre. Caleb R. and Megan J-Wand  will move on to state with acting entries.  Tony W. and Katelin F. move on in  poetry.  Maria M. moves on in  literary program.  Brandi S. and Tony W. move on in story telling.  Caleb R. will move on in prose.

 

Bells will be turned off today.  Students will be dismissed by each teacher for each class period.  Remember there are 3 minutes between classes.

 

We have an assembly today at 1:00.  Students will be dismissed by intercom at 12:55.  The assembly, “Real Kids, Real Life” with Paul Dunbar will be held in the auditorium from 1:00 to 2:30.  We will then get into small groups from 2:45 to 3:30.  Students should report to the following locations:

There will be a National Honor Society meeting tomorrow during 9th hour in Mr. Potter’s room.  Please be prompt.  Thank you.

 

The representative from La James College of Cosmetology will be in the guidance office at 3:00 on Wednesday.

 

There is a Hunter Education Class being offered on Saturdays, March 26th and April 9th.   Students must attend both session.  The class will be held at the Thompson school on those days.  Students must register online on the Iowa DNR website for the class.  Students must be 11 years old to attend. See Mr. Huntington if you would like to participate.  There is no cost for the class.  Space is limited to the first 24 students registered.

 

REMINDER--Students who wish to take driver’s education, spring session, the first class starts Saturday, March 5th.

Reminder--Only senior students may park in the senior parking lot.

 

Dodgeball registration forms are available in the HS media center.

 

Any FCCLA members who are interested in attending the State Leadership conference on March 28 and 29th should let Mrs. Larsen know as soon as possible.  Registrations need to be in by TOMORROW.

 

BLS cards can be picked up in Mrs. Aukes office before or after school or during your lunch hour.  Certification cards are for the students that completed extra BLS skills and paid $6.00.

 

The last three years, North Iowa Schools have sponsored the “Pennies for Patients” Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Fund Drive.   We have set a lofty goal of raising $4000 for this year.  The fund raising this year will run to Friday, March 11th.  Each class will have a canister in which students may donate any pennies or other change to the project. This year the younger students will be provided a donation box to aid in their collecting.  The grades that raise the most funds will be rewarded with a pizza party and also if individual classes raise at least $100 then their class will be awarded a pennant.  Bronze pennants will be given for $100 raised, Silver pennants for $200, and Gold pennants for $300 per classroom.

 

Reminder:  There are still some students who have not turned in the student 9th period opt out form.  This form needs to be completed, signed by your parent, turned into the HS office if you wish to opt out of 9th hr. on Wednesdays and Fridays.  You can receive this form from your 9th period teacher/advisor or the HS office.

 

Also a reminder in regards to 9th period on Wednesdays and Fridays:  Any student with poor attendance, multiple tardies, unfulfilled detentions, and serious disciplinary violations will not be able to opt out of 9th period study hall those days.  If you have any questions, please talk to your teachers. 

 

Seniors please bring your senior photos that you want in the yearbook to the high school office.  You can have one formal and one casual photo and if you want to email photos send to arnevik@northiowa.org
