Today’s menu is changed to walking taco. Tomorrow will be ham and cheese sandwich.

Yesterday was an unusual day to say the least.  Another great example on how unpredictable our Iowa winter’s can be.  As most of you know, we were ready to dismiss classes at 10:15 am yesterday, but the weather got worse before we could get students on buses and dismissed.  For safety reasons, we had to keep students in regular classes until the wind subsided and weather improved.  It never did improve until after school.  I know it was frustrating to many of you, but your safety was at our best interest.  I want to thank all students who “weathered” the storm and cooperated with the school on this unusual day.

Since we were planning an early dismissal, any student who left school yesterday with parent permission and were signed out will not be considered absent.  However, you do need to communicate with your teachers on what you may have missed yesterday and are responsible for getting the work made up.

Cell phones created a problem for us yesterday.  Some parents and others in the community were getting wrongful information from some of you via your cell phones.  Cell phones are not allowed during the school day for these reasons.  Once you get to school and classes are to begin, your cell phones must be turned off and put away.  If you need to contact a parent for whatever reason, you can use the phone in the HS office or possibly a teacher’s classroom phone.  If your parent or someone else needs to contact you, they can call the HS office and leave a message and the office will deliver the message.  We will pull you out of class if it is an emergency.  The only time you have permission to use cell phones is during lobby time at lunch – not during any class, not during Seminar, not in the lunch room.  This privilege may be lost if students continue to disrespect school policy.  Most of you are respectful of this policy and have complied and the school thanks you for your cooperation.  But some of you think that you are above this rule.  If you are using your cell phone during the school day, other than in the lobby during lunch, it is subject to being taken from you.

On Friday parents of seniors out for cheerleading and girls basketball will be introduced prior to the start of the girls game and parents of seniors out for bowling and boys basketball prior to the start of the boys game.

Bowling practice at 5 PM tonight.

FCCLA will work the concession stand on Friday night.  Members need to sign up for a time to work.  The list is outside the FCS room.

FCCLA will meet during 1st seminar on Thursday.  Everyone should try and be there to

The FFA Week committee will meet during 2nd seminar today in the ag room. Shanie you will need to eat 1st lunch.

The FFA is voting for the FFA t-shirt designs on both Friday and Monday for FFA members.  There will be ballots in Mr. Gerzema’s room for you to vote on.  If you have any suggestions for quotes you need to write them down and turn them in to Mr. Gerzema. If there aren't any more suggestions, then we are going to vote on the four we have.  When you vote you have to write down your name and shirt size, so everyone make sure you get in sometime to vote.  Thank you! --Lauren Giesking

Elementary teacher are to meet with Mr. Evans at 3:35 today in the High School Media Center.

Design Team will meet at the same place at 3:50 with Mr. Evans.

On Friday, February 1, the high school will have a winter student recognition/pep rally.  Students will be dismissed from classes at 2:45 pm and go straight to the HS gym.
