M) A huge thank you to everyone who worked at the North Iowa Conference Track Meet last Monday, May 5.  The night was a huge success.  We received many compliments on how efficient we ran the meet and how all the athletes were treated by our volunteers.

N) ZERO  TOLERANCE  on the playground for fighting, arguing, teasing, or rough play.

  O) I appreciate the ideas from Mrs. A. Anderson regarding setting up an elementary technology lab as part of the elementary media center.   In non-media days that lab will be available for “whole-class” experiences as well as small group projects.  We need to each work out areas we can incorporate more use of technology in day-to-day lessons with our students.

1)      What can you do?

2)       How can you help coach students to use technology more effectively and efficiently?

3)       How can you use technology in small group settings?

4)       How can you integrate technology into some drill and practice experiences in critical reading or math areas?

P)Mrs. VanderWilt is working on the Little Bison Relays.  Pray for nice weather ---- we have NO make-up rain date.

Q) Be sure to get your inventory to Sheryl Davids.

R)Graduation 2008 is Sunday, May 25.   Faculty will again be honored by proceeding in and being seated at the northwest corner of the gym facing the audience.  This is one way to honor our graduates and at the same time honor those who have been called to be educators.

 Vegetable Goulash

1 onion                                                 3 tsp. paprika

2 medium-sized potatoes                                  1 Tbs. flour

2 carrots                                                           1 vegetable bouillon cube

Half a medium-sized cauliflower                        14 oz. can chopped tomatoes with basil or herbs

1 Tbs. vegetable oil                                           a pinch of salt and of ground black pepper

1 clove of garlic, crushed

Eat right away, while it is hot.  Ladle the goulash into bowls.  Add a spoonful of sour cream, a sprinkling of paprika and a parsley leaf.

1. Peel the onion, slice it, then chop it.  Peel the potatoes and cut them in half.  Slice them, then cut them into little cubes.

2. Peel the carrots and cut them in half.  Cut them lengthways, then cut them into pieces about 1 inch long.

3. Pull any leaves off the cauliflower.  Cut the curly florets off the tough stalk, one at a time.  Throw away the leaves and stalk.

4. Put the vegetable oil, onion and garlic into a large saucepan.  Then, gently heat them on low heat for 5 minutes.  Stir them as they cook.

5. When the onions are soft, sprinkle them with the paprika.  Sprinkle the flour over them, too, then stir everything well.

6. Put the bouillon cube into a heatproof container.  Add 2 ¾ cups of boiling water and stir it until the bouillon cube dissolves.

7. Pour the broth into the pan.  Add the potatoes carrots, cauliflower florets, chopped tomatoes, salt and pepper, too.  Stir everything well.

8. Turn up the heat.  Heat the goulash until it starts to boil, then reduce the heat, so that it is bubbling gently.

9. Put a lid onto the pan.  Gently cook the goulash for about 20-25 minutes, or until the vegetables are cooked.
