North Iowa students will use good problem solving skills. 

Successful problem solvers:

• apply skills to real life situations                           • learn from past experiences,

• use a variety of appropriate technology                              • demonstrates appropriate risk taking,

• demonstrates flexibility in their thinking                • shows conflict management skills.   

 

Annual Goal:  To increase the percent of students in grades 3-8 and 10 scoring at or above grade level on the vocabulary sub-test of the Gates MacGinitie Reading Assessment.

 

 

● The Behavior Referral assemblies are a way to make sure every student fully understands the importance of GOOD CITIZENSHIP and that we will hold every student and adult responsible for their actions and words.  RESPECT---- RESPONSIBILITY.

 

● Behavior Referral detention will always be Wednesday night 3:30-4:00 --- no shuttle bus for detention students.

 

Yes it is PROM WEEK!!!!!!  

 

Thank you to Mr. Twait for securing funding for “short” elementary field trips.  Each class needs to draft thank you notes from students to NextEra Engery for the funding

 

We host several varsity and middle school track meets this spring.  Please sign up in the office to assist on running an event or helping in the “crow’s nest.”   Our track meets are a real showcase for our communities and our district.

 

April 29 is an early dismissal for Professional Development.  This is a time to correct district-wide assessments.

 

Transition Night for special education students and parents will be Thursday, April 30, 5:30-7:00 in the Commons.   This is for grades 3 through 12.

 

● North Iowa Community Schools Volunteer Appreciation luncheon will be Tuesday, May 5, 2:00 p.m.

5th grade trip to Living History Farms --- May 7

● Little Bison Relays ---- Wednesday  May 13 --- 11:30 --- sack lunch day provided by the cooks ------ rain date will be Friday, May 15 --- same time.

 

4th grade --- Grant School experience ---- May 15

5th grade Transition Day ------ May 15

● Tuesday, June 2 is a professional development day due to snow days.

 

After School Special for students in grades 4 or 5 each Tuesday night from 3:30-4:30 in the Elementary Media Center.   Be sure to send notes home to parents of participants and notify Dyanna and Sheryl of those who will need to ride the 5:15 shuttle bus.

 

● “PROCEDURES   MUST BE PRACTICED.”   Harry Wong ------ Recess rules need to be practiced.  Lining up when the whistle blows is a procedure.  Practice it ---- explain the purpose for the rule.  Be consistent in how the rule is enforced.   Now that we have returned from Christmas it is especially important to review procedures and practice them over and over again.

 

● We have missed several days due to snow or dangerously cold temperatures.  Listed below are the days missed and the make-up days.
