ADDITIONAL ITEMS:

Board Goal:

We must provide students with an understanding of the global nature of society, the interdependence of the world’s people, and their effect on the world’s environment.

Culture Climate Goals - Long Term Goal: North Iowa students will treat each other respectfully.

We will be testing the district emergency procedure on WEDNESDAY this week..  This test will take place after students have left for the day.   Review the procedures.  Our job as adults is to remain calm --- convey a feeling of confidence and security to our students.  I know you will each do just that.  Thank you.

THANK YOU to everyone who contributed to the success on Thursday when we hosted U. S. Senator Tom Harkin’s office.  IT was a very rewarding experience and uplifting for our district, our school board, and patrons.

No school FRIDAY,   October 31.  Teacher Comp Day following conferences.

Awesome Parent Advisory Committee meeting last week.  A special thank you to all those who are willing to serve on those various committees district-wide.

The North Iowa Conference Common In-service Day at NIACC was a huge success.   Dr. Eleanor Rodriquez challenged each of us to create the learning environment where “ALL” means   “ALL.”

● Parent-Teacher Conferences will be Tuesday, October 28 and Thursday, October 30.  We will accept nothing less than 100% participation from each family.  If they miss their appointment, be sure to call and schedule another meeting.  Parent involvement is vital to the success of children. Make every attempt to complete your conference will “ALL” parents by Tuesday, November 4.

We are hosting a tournament volleyball game during one night of conferences plus a blood drive plus a Pampered Chef fund raiser for the FCCLA plus a book fair ------------- YES IT IS BUSY!!!!

● Remember as a General Education teacher you are required to attend special education staffing and GEI brainstorming sessions

Respect and Responsibility ------ How often do your students use the phases “PLEASE” and “THANK YOU?”

Your WebPages should now contain:

ü      your daily schedule,

ü      a link to your lesson plans,

ü      helpful links/hints for parents to use when working with their children,

ü      a brief statement about yourself, family, background,

ü      something about your educational philosophy.

● Monday, November 3rd is the 50th day of school for elementary. The Fonz says, “Dress for the Day”! Think 50’s: Poodle skirts, saddle shoes, jeans, leather jackets, varsity sweaters, scarves, penny loafers”

Tuesday, November 4 is the first Tuesday following the first Monday in an even-number year ------- we all know that means it is a federal election year ----- Plan to do your civic duty and vote ----- Make an informed vote ---- do the research.

● Lookin’ Great in 2008! Wear Red, White, and Blue on Election Day, Tuesday, November 4, 2008

November 11 is Veteran’s Day ------- what can you do in your classroom to highlight what our service personnel has done to protect our freedoms?
