GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

A) BROAD PROGRAM GOALS

We must create a caring environment in which academic learning is a top priority and students are committed to lifelong learning.  As a community of learners and educators it is our responsibility to mold a learning environment that is centered on student needs and committed to helping every learner reach her/his greatest potential.

 

B) ANNUAL PROGRESS GOALS

Culture Climate for Learning

Long Term Goal: North Iowa students will treat each other respectfully.

 

Annual Goal: The percent of students responding 3 or higher on question 6 of the Building Tomorrow Survey will increase.

 

C) Make our RSVP volunteers feel very welcome.  They make a real difference in the life of our students.        Joe Angstman, Beverly Aalgaard, John Laflen, Pam Angstman,  Betty Elman, and Shirley Miller

E) Awesome Faculty Meeting last week at NIACC ---- I value your feedback at our elementary meeting.

 

F)    Ms. Geitzenhauer put in a tremendous amount of work on the October 12 conference-wide inservice at NIACC.  If you get a chance please thank her for all her efforts.

J) Can you still hear Simon Estes’ voice in the back of your mind?  What was his core message?  How can that impact who we are as educators and where we want to be as a school district?

 

K) ELECTRONIC  GRADE  BOOK  COMMITTEE:  Connie Brooks, Allen Twait, Sue Sime, Louise Hagedorn.  Our first meeting will be October 24.  Our remaining meetings will be November 14, November 28, and December 19.  We will meet in the HS media center at 3:40.

 

L) Fuel prices and huge jumps in heating fuels are beginning to place a strain on the district budget.

 

M) FINAL   Early Literacy Training ------ parents of children from age 1 – 6 --- October 20 --- 6:00-7:30 --- Elementary Media Center.

N) NOVEMBER 15 WILL BE THE 2005 PARENTING FAIR.  The elementary early childhood committee is coordinating the effort.   The early childhood committee will meet October 27 (Thursday) at 3:40 to finalize plans.
