Reading Buddies ready to work with students

RSVP of North Central Iowa and North Iowa Elementary will partner again this year to provide one-on-one reading assistance to 1st grade students.  Mrs. Huntington’s and Mr. Twait’s classrooms will benefit from Reading Buddies who will meet weekly with teacher-identified students in an effort to improve student reading skills.  Each student will have the opportunity to read to the volunteer as well as get to know another adult from the community.  RSVP Reading Buddies are trained in Guided Reading skills and proved to make an impact last year as 100% of the students were reading at least a .5 grade level higher and of that, 70% of the students were reading at 1 or more grade levels higher by year end.  The following volunteers are anxious to work with students again starting the week of October 3rd:

Pam Angstman                     Joe Angstman                      Beverly Aalgaard
