ADDITIONAL  ITEMS:

 

•      Essential Learning Goal:  North Iowa students will be successful communicators.  Successful communicators will express needs and ideas so others understand.

 

 

•        Science Achievement Annual Goal:  The percent of students in science grades 6, 8, 11 that score at the intermediate level or higher (ITBS, ITED) will increase or the percent of students scoring proficient (3 or higher) will increase from fall to spring on the District Science Test (grades 5-8 and 10).

 

•  Third Annual National Bullying Prevention Awareness Week --- October 5 – 11, 2008 -------------- plan an activity for your students for a couple of days this week.   A  couple of potential websites for students might be    http://www.pacerkidsagainstbullying.org/       and      http://stopbullyingnow.hrsa.gov/index.asp   

 

•  Take advantage of the six times the BULLYING/HARASSMENT training is offered this week.  I made every attempt to create multiple opportunities for you to fit the training into your schedule.  We will begin promptly at the scheduled time.  Please bring a pen/pencil with you.

 

• District-wide assessment ------- Please return to Mike Evans when completed or by Oct. 10

 

• No school October 22 ----- North Iowa Conference Common Inservice Day ---- NIACC --- 9:00-3:00

 

•  Parent-Teacher Conferences will be  Tuesday, October 28 and Thursday, October 30.

 

• ALL students will remain in the bleachers at the football game either sitting with parents or with friends.   Students will only be allowed out of the bleachers when going to the concession stand,  the restroom or directly with their parents.  Adults may be along the fence cheering but all K-8 students will be in the bleachers.  THIS  IS  A  SAFETY  ISSUE.

 

•  .Remember as a General Education teacher you are required to attend special education staffings and GEI brainstorming sessions

•  Respect and Responsibility -------------- How often do your students use the phases “PLEASE”  and  “THANK YOU?”

•  Your webpages should now contain your daily schedule,  a link to your lesson plans, helpful links/hints for parents to use when working with their children.

. •  We are offering a pep bus to away games.   Students in middle school and high school are encouraged to sign up.

• October 8 the BC Fire Department will conduct their annual Fire Safety training for elementary students.
