GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

A) BROAD PROGRAM GOALS

We must produce students who can adapt to change, respect others, and work cooperatively to become contributing members of society.

 

B) ANNUAL PROGRESS GOAL

Culture Climate for Learning

Long Term Goal: North Iowa students will treat each other respectfully.

Annual Goal: The percent of students responding 3 or higher on question 6 of the Building Tomorrow Survey will increase.

 

C) Beginning October 1 all employees will be expected to begin wearing their ID cards.  You were each provided a lanyard but if you desire to have a belt-loop ID holder or clip-on holder you are welcome to purchase such a device to personalize the ID but it must be easily readable.   All visitors coming into the building will be exected to have a visitor pass ----- if they do not ask to see an ID and direct them to the Elementary/High School office to obtain one.

E) . Elementary Faculty Meeting --- Thursday, October 18--- 7:30 a.m.

 

F)   Bullying/Harassment training will take place for the bus drivers on October 12 --- 8:30-9:30        a.m. in the ICN room in Buffalo Center. 

   The training for paraprofessionals, secretaries, cooks, and custodians in the elementary media center on  October 12 beginning at 3:45 p.m.

   The training for paraprofessionals , secretaties, cooks, and custodians at the middle school will take place on October 13 in the middle school ICN room from 8:30-9:30 a.m.

 

G)  Bullying/Harassment training for middle school teachers will take place October 24 at 3:45 p.m. in the middle school ICN room.

The training will take place for high school and elementary teachers on October 25.  We will meet in the Elementary Media Center.  You will have the option of attending the 7:15-8:15 a.m. training or the 3:45-4:45 training.

 

H) Be at the recess door to walk your class back to your room.

     Recess supervisors need to hold the students until the teacher arrives to lead them.

 

I)  Line Basics when in the hallway.

 

J) Outstanding feedback regarding dyslexia and also character education.  The sharepoint takes a little getting used to but I think you are getting the hang of it.

 

K) October10 is our North Iowa Conference Professional Development Day at NIACC.   The planning committee will be meeting in the very near future to put the final touches on the day and the follow-up.  Daryl Scott will be our keynote speaker.  His daughter was Rachel Scott.  Rachel was the first child killed in the Columbine High School shootings in late April, 1999.  The following day a team of trainers from the Rachel Scott Foundation will work with our middle school students.  This all ties directly to the Bullying/Harassment conversations we have had and our new policy.

 

L) In the next few days schedule an appointment to meet with me to discuss your Professional Development Goal and your Team Goal.   

 

M)  ZERO  TOLERANCE  on the playground for fighting, arguing, teasing, or rough play.

 

 N) October 11 we will host our middle school students plus the middle school students from West Hancock for an afternoon training session on “Rachel’s Challenge.”  The event will take place in the auditorium beginning at 12:15 p.m.

 

O)  You will be asked in the next couple of weeks to administer a survey of your students regarding respect.   This is a pre-test.   The post-test survey will take place next spring.

 

P)  The Special Education team will meet in the middle school ICN room on Thursday, October 4 to go through a training with our own  Jan Williams
