GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

A) BOARD GOALS

It is the goal of the North Iowa Community School District to expect all district employees and elected officials to reflect fiscal responsibility and long-term fiscal planning.

B) ANNUAL PROGRESS GOALS

Reading

Long Term Goal: All K-12 students will achieve at high levels in reading comprehension, prepared for success beyond high school.

Annual Goal: To increase percent of students in grades 3-8 and 10 scoring at or above grade level on the vocabulary subtest of the Gates MacGinitie Reading Assessment.

C) The schoolteacher was taking her first golfing lesson.
"Is the word spelt p-u-t or p-u-t-t?'' she asked the instructor.
"P-u-t-t is correct,'' he replied.
"Put means to place a thing where you want it. Putt means merely a vain attempt to do the same thing."

d) All week the elementary will use “whisper” level visiting in the Commons during lunch. Respect. Responsibility.

e) Mr. Huntington and the high school students did a great job with last week’s Rock In Prevention Program.

f) I was very proud of our students and their conduct at the Rock-n-Prevention program last week. I want to thank all the faculty and staff members who place an emphasis on good citizenship. Thank you.

g) K-Prep through grade 2 behavior management training with Keva Hale on September 28. Plan to attend both meetings. The training will take place in the elementary media center and run from 3:40 – 5:00.

h) Students who traveled to Costa Rica last summer will present to Grades 3 and 4 on September 28. The student will sit on the floor in the Multi-Purpose room. Move to that room at 2:30. The program will last about a half hour.

i) Body Basics in the hallways.

l) What is the timeline for implementation of the FINANCE CURRICULUM?

n) Would you like to be part of designing the electronic grade book? We want it to link to mastery of skills and knowledge. How can we make the connection with our standards and benchmarks? What will it look like on-line and what will it look like printed out?

o) Fuel prices and huge jumps in heating fuels are beginning to place a strain on the district budget.
