GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

A) BOARD GOALS

     It is the goal of the North Iowa Community School District to partner with parents and community leaders/organizations to address the needs of children and parents in order to maximize every child’s ability, regardless of age, to enter school ready to learn.

 

B) ANNUAL PROGRESS GOALS

Culture Climate for Learning

Long Term Goal: North Iowa students will treat each other respectfully.

 

Annual Goal: The percent of students responding 3 or higher on question 6 of the Building Tomorrow Survey will increase.

 

C)  Visit with students prior to leaving for Rock-In-Prevention.   Discuss conduct and being respectful.

 

D)  Rock In Prevention Program – Wednesday, Sept. 21

 

The schedule is as follows:

7:00-7:15 a.m. Helpers arrive and register

7:15-9:00 a.m. Training with the High School Helpers

E) K-Prep through grade 2  behavior management training with Keva Hale on September 28.  Plan to attend both meetings.  The training will take place in the elementary media center and run from 3:40 – 5:00.

 

F) Visit with students about good citizenship in our hallways?

 

G)  Mr. Diercks will provide you with a schedule of Homecoming activates.

 

     Students and teachers will march in the parade.  As you arrive at Timely Mission Nursing Home move to the curb and have students sit down to watch the rest of the parade.

 

H)  Make sure to have name tags on all K-2 students.  ON the name tag list their bus driver.

 

(I)  PUNT-PASS-KICK  participants need to  ALL  walk back to the school.  Once everyone has returned to the school students will be released to either walk home, get on a school bus, or go back to the  PUNT-PASS-KICK  competition.    Notes  are required from parents.

 

(J) We expect GOOD CITIZENSHIP  everywhere and in all situations.    We are united as a team.

 

(K) FINANCE  curriculum materials are being stored in the para-professional work room.

 

(L) Post your grades, expectations, and classroom rules.   Get copies to Rena --- she will run a copy for Mr. Hill.

 

(M)  Early Literacy Training ------ parents of children from age 1 – 6 --- Sept. 29 --- 6:00-7:30.  Daycare provided.  Supper provided.  FREE  BOOKS.

 

(N) Homecoming 2005 is September 23.

                                    

(O)  Students who traveled to Costa Rica last summer will present to Grades 3 and 4 on September 28.  The student will sit on the floor in the Multi-Purpose room.  Move to that room at 2:30.  The program will last about a half hour.

 

(P) Marlys Ebaugh was in the district on Tued\sday, 9-13-05.  She saw some of your students for monitored loss followup.  I will place a copy of your student's audiogram for your review. 

Please implement any recommendations from her.  These recommendations will be listed on the bottom of the AEA Hearing Evaluation Report.  Be sure the results with any paras that might work with your student.
