GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

A) Our Educational Philosophy

We believe parents, the school, and the community must impart to students a system of moral standards and beliefs allowing them to function in a democratic society.

 

B) ANNUAL PROGRESS GOAL

Reading

Long Term Goal: All K-12 students will achieve at high levels in reading comprehension, prepared for success beyond high school.

Annual Goal: To increase percent of students in grades 3-8 and 10 scoring at or above grade level on the vocabulary subtest of the Gates MacGinitie Reading Assessment.

 

C)  Elementary Banking Day --- Wednesday,  September 12 --- 8:15-8:45

 

D) Middle School and High School Special Education teachers attend a three day training on September 10, 11, and 12.

 

E) . Elementary Faculty Meeting --- Tuesday, September 11, 7:30 a.m. ---- Elem. Media Center---- We will meet in Mrs. Jacobson’s classroom.   Bring your Literacy Training folder and your card packet to the meeting. 

We will table our work on the teaching portfolio to our next faculty meeting -----at that time you will have time to work together and share some of the components of the teacher evaluations/standards/criteria and the artifacts you have collected.

 

.F)   SEPTEMBER 20 WILL BE A FULL DAY OF SCHOOL ------ Staff Development will be moved to  Thursday, September 27 ---- 1:30/1:50 dismissal

 

G) Be at the recess door to walk your class back to your room. 

Recess supervisors need to hold the students until the teacher arrives to lead them.

.I) Homecoming 2007 is the week of September 17.  Find those streamers and pom poms !!?!??

 

J) October10 is our North Iowa Conference Professional Development Day at NIACC.   The planning committee will be meeting in the very near future to put the final touches on the day and the follow-up.  Daryl Scott will be our keynote speaker.  His daughter was Rachel Scott.  Rachel was the first child killed in the Columbine High School shootings in late April, 1999.  The following day a team of trainers from the Rachel Scott Foundation will work with our middle school students.  This all ties directly to the Bullying/Harassment conversations we have had and our new policy.

 

.K) In the next few days schedule an appointment to meet with me to discuss your Professional Development Goal and your Team Goal.   

 

.L) ZERO  TOLERANCE  on the playground for fighting, arguing, teasing, or rough play.

 

M)  September 29 is “Soaring and Exploring” at NIACC.

 

N)    Why did the Math book cry?
                                                Because it had too many problems.
