GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

A) BROAD PROGRAM GOALS

We must help students develop a positive self-concept, understand themselves, have confidence in their abilities, and accept responsibility for their own education and personal development.

 

B) ANNUAL PROGRESS GOALS

Culture Climate for Learning

Long Term Goal: North Iowa students will treat each other respectfully..

Annual Goal: The percent of students responding 3 or higher on question 6 of the Building Tomorrow Survey will increase.

 

C)  A.M. recess is 15 minutes long.  K-2 goes form 9:40 – 9:55 ---- no longer --- no shorter.    Grades 3 – 4 recess is from 10:05 – 10:20.

 

D) North Iowa Little Bison Cheer Camp 2006 – Saturday, Sept. 9th – Grades K-8 – 9:00 a.m. to noon - $15 due with registration form.  Must sign-up by Tuesday, August 29th.  Contact Arin Anderson with questions.  Stop by the office for a form.

 

E)  BODY  BASICS  in the hallway.   Orderly lines and quiet voices.   If it takes a few times of practice to master that expectation feel free to repeat the lesson over and over again. THIS IS A MAJOR FOCUS FOR OUR ENTIRE ELEMENTARY STAFF FOR 2006-2007.

 

F) Vicki Berschman will get a new copy of your fire / tornado exit map in the near future.  Post the new map above your main exit door or very near the door.

 

G)  Remember to meet with Mr. Hill regarding your professional growth goal for 2006-2007.  Set up an appointment.

 

H) Remember the time change at the end of the day.    Release those riding the Thompson shuttle at 3:25 --- no earlier.   Release town students and all those going to the playground at 3:28

 

I)  Is the schedule working?   Make sure to get any changes to the master schedule for teachers, specials, or paraprofessionals to Mr. Hill by Friday , September 8.

 

J) End of the day bus route times:  Depart the Elem/High School and Middle School at 3:33.  Rural routes depart at 3:48

 

K)  Elementary Faculty Meeting ---Sept.  14.  Each teacher will bring their teacher portfolio and share with at least two other teachers what evidence you have collected and how  you interpret  the teacher standards and the mandated criteria.

 

L) Home School Assistance Program parent training/meeting --- September 7 --- 6:30  NIMS Media Center and Cafeteria

 

M)  We are working on a master electronic calendar for all events and room reservations made by internal and external groups.  This will include the ICN, multi-purpose room, Commons, media centers, old cafeteria, and auditorium.  This would give you immediate access to availability of facilities when you are planning activities or events.

N)  Personal leave is dependent on the availability of  a substitute.  Plan ahead.

P) ‘Cyber Citizens of the World Wide Web”   is a play sponsored by the Iowa Department of Education.  The play is geared toward grades 3 – 6.   The play will be webcast to our school on October 4, from 10:30-11:30.  Our 3rd and 4th grade will take part.  The focus of the webcast play is to drive home the importance of InterNet safety.  This has been a thrust of our district presentation team in recent months.
