Board Goal

It is the goal of the North Iowa Community School District to encourage maximum community involvement in all district activities/decisions and as a result developing a pride in ownership by all community members and all patrons of the district.

 

Reading Achievement Goals Annual Goal:  To increase the percent of students in grades 3-8 and 10 scoring at or above grade level on the vocabulary sub-test of the Gates MacGinitie Reading Assessment.

 

Monday, May 18 we host the North Iowa Conference Middle School boys track meet ---- please volunteer to assist.

 

● Thank you to everyone who contributed to the huge success of the Little Bison Relays ---- a special pat on the back to Mrs. Vander Wilt.

 

● Thank you to Dyanna Quisling, members of the Buffalo Center ambulance, and Bison FFA members for the Bike Safety presentation, bike rodeo, and the 2nd grade helmets and four nice bikes they gave away.  It is very kind and easy to see children are your priority.

 

● The Behavior Referral assemblies are a way to make sure every student fully understands the importance of   GOOD CITIZENSHIP   and those we will hold every student and adult responsible for their actions and words.  RESPECT ---- RESPONSIBILITY.

 

● Behavior Referral detention will always be Wednesday night 3:30-4:00 - no shuttle bus for detention students.

 

Keep in mind the master contract allows for only 2 teachers per building per day to be gone for Personal Leave.

Great 5th grade Transition Day last Friday ---- thank you to everyone who contributed to the success

 

4th grade Grant School experience last Friday was a huge success ---- a step back in history

 

● Thank you to Mr. Twait for securing funding for “short” elementary field trips.  Each class needs to draft thank you notes from students to NextEra Energy for the funding

 

● After School Special for students in grades 4 or 5 each Tuesday night from 3:30-4:30 in the Elementary Media Center.   Be sure to send notes home to parents of participants and notify Dyanna and Sheryl of those who will need to ride the 5:15 shuttle bus.

May 21 - Head Start/Preschool end of the year activity - program in the park - Lions Park - 6:30

The teacher was lecturing on map reading. After explaining about latitude, longitude, degrees and minutes the teacher asked, "Suppose I asked you to meet me for lunch at 23 degrees, 4 minutes north latitude and 45 degrees, 15 minutes east longitude...?"
After a confused silence, a voice volunteered, "I guess you'd be eating alone."
