pending any changes in personnel over the summer. Special
Thank You to the volunteers on the Scheduling Committee. This is hard

H) Thank you to Mrs. Brooks on
her coordination of the State Fair unit.
Culminating activity is Tuesday, May 20 in the Commons.
I) Visit with
parents regarding summer school. Address the following questions.
Why
should my child attend? What skills
will they work on at summer school? What
if they do not
attend summer school? Keep in mind summer school will not take place just here in the
elementary this summer. We will hold
half day sessions in each community a couple of days each week during June and
early July. By Friday, give Rena a copy of the list of parents/students you
have contacted regarding summer school.
J) ZERO TOLERANCE on the playground for fighting, arguing,
teasing, or rough play.
K) I appreciate the ideas from Mrs. A. Anderson regarding setting up an elementary technology lab as part of the elementary media center. In non-media days that lab will be available for “whole-class” experiences as well as small group projects. We need to each work out areas we can incorporate more use of technology in day-to-day lessons with our students.
1) What can you do?
2)
How can you help coach students to use
technology more effectively and efficiently?
3)
How can you use technology in small group
settings?
4)
How can you integrate technology into some drill
and practice experiences in critical reading or math areas?
L) Boxes off the floor --- a map of the layout of your room
taped to the black board/white board ---- complete a maintenance form and
submit that form on-line to the custodial staff --- cover shelved books to
protect them.
M) Be sure to get your inventory to Sheryl Davids.
N) Graduation
2008 is Sunday, May 25. Faculty will
again be honored by proceeding in and being seated at the northwest corner of
the gym facing the audience. This is one
way to honor our graduates and at the same time honor those who have been
called to be educators
Tropical Fruit Loaf
1 large orange 2 tsp.
baking powder
1 ½ sticks
butter,
softened 9 oz.
package chopped dried tropical fruit
¾ cup sugar 2 lb.
loaf pan, measuring about 8x5x3 ½ inches
3 medium eggs For the icing:
¾ cup whole-wheat flour ¾ cup powdered sugar
¾ cup self-rising flour 2 tbs. milk
Preheat oven to 350 Deg. Store in an airtight container and eat within
3 days.
1. Grease the inside of the
pan. Line the bottom with baking
parchment. Then, grate the rind off the
orange using the medium holes.
2. Squeeze the juice from the
orange using a lemon squeezer. Put the
rind, butter and sugar into a large bowl.
Stir them well.
3. Break the eggs into a small
bowl and mix them with a fork. Then, mix
them into the creamy mixture, a little at a time.
4. Put both kinds of flour and
the baking powder into a sieve. Then,
gently shake the sieve, to sift them into the bowl.
5. Chop the fruit into small
pieces. Put 1 oz. aside. Add the rest to the bowl, with a tablespoon
of the juice.
6. Gently turn the mixture over
with a spoon, to mix everything well.
Spoon it into the pan, then bake the loaf for
20 minutes.
7. Carefully lift the loaf out
of the oven. Cover the top with foil and
bake it for another 50 minutes. Then,
lift it out.
8. Press the loaf with a
finger. If it is firm, leave it in the
pan for 15 minutes, then cool it on a wire rack. If not, cook it a little more. Peel off the baking parchment.
9. Sift the powdered sugar into
a bowl. Mix in the milk until the
mixture is smooth. Then, spread the
icing over the loaf. Scatter the rest of
the fruit over the top of the loaf.
