Long Term Goal: All
K-12 students will achieve at high levels in mathematics, prepared for success
beyond high school.
Annual Goal: The
percent of students scoring proficient (70%) on the district Computation Test
(grades 2-8) and the district Algebra Test (grade 10) will increase using
two-year averaging.
C) Teachers please
announce to students: Any girls
interested in playing summer softball in Lakota please sign up in the office. Write your name and the grade you are just
finishing. There will be a short
practice on Friday May 23rd at 2:30 at the Lakota ball diamond for
those who can make it.
D) Marlys
Ebaugh, audiologist, will be here on Monday, 5-12-08
for hearing follow up. She will be at
the BC building around 9 am. Students
will be called out of clas as needed. Please let Deb know if you have a student
that needs to have their hearing checked.

F)MAY 6 is
our Elementary Spring Concert. Mr. C. Kettwick will get details to teachers. This is an
awesome experience for our students and it will be a wonderful concert.
G) There is still
time to share your thoughts regarding room arrangements. Everyone’s ideas have merit. Many of the changes proposed came from
faculty or staff.
Not everyone’s
ideas can be implemented but at least we are getting some good idea out on the
table and talked about.
H) Special
Thank You to the volunteers on the Scheduling Committee. This is hard work and
they deserve your support. These folks have done a wonderful job.
I)Review the Fire Drill procedure with your students. Hopefully the weather will cooperate this week.
J)Head Start Graduation/End-of-the-Year Gathering is Thursday, May 15.
K) Purchase Orders should all be
turned in to the building principal by now.
L) Next elementary faculty
meeting is MAY 14 in the Elementary Media Center ---- 3:45 p.m.
M)We host the NORTH
IOWA CONFERENCE CO-ED
TRACK MEET ON MAY 5. This is a co-ed meet so we will have 16 teams here.
PLEASE consider volunteering to
help with a single event. This is a
huge showcase for us as a school district.
N) ZERO TOLERANCE
on the playground for fighting, arguing, teasing, or rough play.
O) TheVolunteers Appreciation
Luncheon was a huge success. Thank you to Sheryl Davids
for all the coordination. Thank you to
Jade Gasteiger, Jewell Gasteiger,
Bethany Zenk, Ashley Cox, and Kathleen Buffington for
the entertainment. The attendance was very
good and we really appreciate all our volunteers do for our district.
P) Mrs. VanderWilt is working on the
Little Bison Relays. Pray for nice weather
---- we have NO make-up rain date.
Q)Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make sure the 4th
grade trip to Grant Township Country School #5 was a good experience.
R)Graduation
2008 is Sunday, May 25. Faculty will
again be honored by proceeding in and being seated at the northwest corner of
the gym facing the audience. This is one
way to honor our graduates and at the same time honor those who have been
called to be educators.
Vegetable Casserole
For the vegetable
casserole: 2
tsp. light soy sauce
3 medium carrots 2
tbs. soft brown sugar
4 green onions ˝
tsp. salt
4 baby mushrooms a
casserole dish with a lid
3 cabbage leaves For
the dipping sauce:
2/3 cup tofu 2
lemons
4 oz. udon noodles 6
tbs. light soy sauce
1 vegetable bouillon
cube 1
tbs. brown sugar
2 ˝ cups boiling
water
Serve right
away. Dip the vegetables into the
dipping sauce before eating them.
1. Peel the carrots
and cut off the ends. Cut them in half,
then in half lengthways. Cut each piece
into thin strips.
2. Trim the ends
off the green onions. Peel off the outer
layer. Then, cut the onions into pieces
about 1 inch long.
3.Wipe the
mushrooms clean on a paper towel. Then,
cut the ends off the stems and cut a cross into the top of each one. Turn on your oven to 325 deg. F
4. Roll each
cabbage leaf into a sausage shape. Slice
across each one. The slices will make
thin strips when they unroll.
5. Carefully cut
the tofu into 1 inch cubes. Then, cook
the noodles, following the instructions on the package.
6. Arrange the
vegetables, noodles and tofu in the casserole dish. Stir the bouillon cube into the boiling water
in a container.
7. Mix in the soy
sauce, brown sugar and salt. Pour the
mixture into the dish. Cover the dish
with a lid and bake the casserole for about 45 minutes.
8. To make the
dipping sauce, cut the lemons in half and squeeze them. Put 6 tablespoons of juice into a bowl.
9. Mix the soy
sauce and brown sugar into the lemon juice.
Chill the dipping sauce in the refrigerator while the casserole cooks.
