A) OUR EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

We believe the relationship between the teacher and the learner requires a commitment to learning by all parties involved.

 

B) ANNUAL PROGRESS GOALS

Science

Long Term Goal: All K-12 students will achieve at high levels in science, prepared for success beyond high school. 

 

Annual Goal: The percent of students in grades 6, 8 and 11 that score at the intermediate level or higher will increase (ITBS, ITED) or the percent of students scoring proficient (3 or higher) will increase from fall to spring on the district science assessment (grades 5-8 and 10 .

 

 

Marlys Ebaugh, audiologist will be here for hearing follow-up on Wed., May 17th.  At BC in the am to do selected students preschool through 12.  She will call students out of class as needed.  Please send students to my office when she calls.  She will then travel to Thompson (my office) to do follow-up there (maybe noon???????).

 

Please let me know if you have any students that you would like their hearing checked.

D)  We enter the final 20 days of the 2005-2006 school year.  Are your students where you want them to be academically?  Who are you sending to the next grade level?  Do they have the skills to be successful?

 

E)  Thank you to the 4th grade and their respectful attention during the presention by Wayne Thompson regarding the “LOVE  OF  LEARNING”  bronze statue.

 

F)  Tuesday we will hold a K-12 Faculty Meeting at 7:30 a.m. in the HS Media Center.  The topic is the new outdoor locking system and computerized I. D. cards.  This meeting should last less than 20 minutes.

 

 G) What math skills will your students  MASTER  while having you as their teacher?    “MASTER” is the key phrase.

 

(H) Are there a couple of volunteers to help  present to the rest of the faculty on May 31?   District-wide we will be working on narrowning and defining our benchmarks   PLUS  developing a rubric for those benchmarks.

    The Elementary Team has accomplished a great deal.   How can we help the other levels through this process?

 

I)  We will be hosting several visitors from neighboring district during May.  

                How do outsiders view us when they stop to visit?

L)  We have had several incidents over the past few weeks that have left us shorthanded for custodial work.  I appreciate your assistance when we have someone covering for another employee or when we have a substitute.

O) Next school board meeting is TUESDAY,  MAY 9 ---- we had to alter the regular meeting date because we host the North Iowa Conference Girls Track Meet on Monday, May 8.

 

P) Graduation is  May 21.

 

Q) May 26 is the last day of the 2005-2006 school year ----- it is a 1:10/1:30 dismissal.    

 

R) May 30 and May 31 are staff development days ---- 8:00 – 4:00 daily.

 

S) A woman had twins, and gave them up for adoption.  One of them went to a family in Egypt and was named Amahl (ah-mall). The other went to a family in Spain; they named him Juan. Years later, Juan sent a picture of himself to his mother. Upon receiving the picture, she told her husband that she wished she also had a picture of Amahl. Her husband responded, "But they are twins--if you've seen Juan, you've seen Amahl."
