GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

A) ESSENTIAL LEARNINGS

North Iowa students will be life-long learners.

      Life-long learners:

      *demonstrate self-sufficiency/self-directed learning,

      *demonstrate appropriate use of resources,

      *demonstrate adaptability to various situations,

      *demonstrate perseverance.

     

 

B) ANNUAL PROGRESS GOALS

Culture Climate for Learning

Long Term Goal: North Iowa students will treat each other respectfully.

 

Annual Goal: The percent of students responding 3 or higher on question 6 of the Building Tomorrow Survey will increase.

D)  Literacy Make-and-Take ---- elementary parents --- 5:30-7:30 --- Commons --- Food and Daycare provided

 

E) March 27 we will hold a reaction meeting to the new high school curriculum design and structure --- 8:00 H.S. Media Center.

 

F) March 29 we will have a hearing on the Good Conduct rule to be in effect for 2007-2008.

 

G)  MAKE – UP    DAYS:

     November 10 was made-up on February 16.

     January 15 will be made-up on April 5.

     March 1 will be made-up on April 9.

     March 2 will be made-up on May 29.

 

H) “Beauty and Beast.”  The directors and all the students deserve a huge pat on the back.  Another group often overlooked are the people behind the scenes who help make the event such a success --- parents, custodians, secretaries, etc.  A huge thank you to everyone who worked to make the performance successful for students.

 

I) Our  “DINNER  WITH  DAD”  meeting with parents has been a wonderful experience.  

Super attendance and super enthusiasm.  I am very proud of these fathers and their commitment. I can not express how impressed I am in our fathers, grandfathers, and even an uncle or two who attended the sessions.  Their commitment sends a powerful message to the little person they attended with.

 

J)  Parent – Teacher Conference  March 27 and 29.   Comp Day March 30.

 

K)  Remember to record  your reading and technology strategies.

     

 L)  The North Iowa Elementary Winter Olympic planning continues.

 

M)   Thursday, March 29 we will host a Transition Night for middle school and high school students and parents who have IEPs. The meeting will take place in the HS Media Center and ICN room.  The meeting will begin at 5:00.

 

N)  Our next Elementary Faculty meeting is Wednesday, March 28 -------- I apologize for having to postpone the meeting for a week..  We will meet in the Elem. Media Center  promptly at 3:30.

 Tentatively the dates for our spring meetings will be April 10,  May 1, and May 15. 

Remember when you are presenting  with your group around the book study.

 

O) BOOK  STUDY  FORMAT:   10-15 minutes of team-led discussion regarding the chapter followed by an activity which challenges us to implement something learned in that portion of the book.   Each elementary faculty member will share their implementation.  

Every faculty member will take part in the book study.

Those taking the book study for credit will have extra things to complete.

 

P) Personal leave is dependent on the availability of  a substitute.  Plan ahead.
