GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

A) ESSENTIAL LEARNINGS

North Iowa students will be successful communicators.  Successful communicators:

      *express needs and ideas so others understand,

      *interprets experiences,

      *evaluates and analyzes information,

      *listens and perceives information from others.

 

B) ANNUAL PROGRESS GOALS

Math

Long Term Goal: All K-12 students will achieve at high levels in mathematics, prepared for success beyond high school.

 

Annual Goal: The percent of students scoring proficient (70%) on the district computation test (grades 2-8) and the district Algebra Test (grade 10) will increase using two-year averaging.

D) March 5 and March 6 we had our AEA Special Education Compliance audit.  Our Special Education staff, our paraprofessionals, our teachers, our Board Secretary, and our administrators all got very high marks and I want to thank each of them for their dedication to students.   The climate in our buildngs among employees and students was a high mark for us.  Our programming was held up as a model.  We have a few things to work on but we passed with flying colors.  Well done.

 

E)  MAKE – UP    DAYS:

     November 10 was made-up on February 16.

     January 15 will be made-up on April 5.

     March 1 will be made-up on April 9.

     March 2 will be made-up on May 29.

 

F) “Beauty and Beast” will be appearing on our auditorium stage in just two short weeks.  Get your tickets early.

 

G) Our  “DINNER  WITH  DAD”  meeting with parents has been a wonderful experience.  

Super attendance and super enthusiasm.  I am very proud of these fathers and their commitment.

 

H)  “Oh Lutefisk ---- Oh Lutefisk!” ----- Great crowd ----- great example of volunteerism.

 

 I)  Next School Board meeting is March 12.  Committees meet at 6:30 and the regular meeting is at 7:00.

 

J)  Pancake Days at Lakota Saturday, March 17 ------- GREEN  PANCAKES???!?!?!?.

 

K)  Remember to record  your reading and technology strategies.

 

L)  The Local Option Sales Tax passed overwhelmingly in Kossuth county last Tuesday.  Thank you to everyone who took time to exercise their civic responsibility.

 

.M)  The North Iowa Elementary Winter Olympic planning continues.  Friday, March 16 is our day.

 

N)  Thursday, March 15 we will host a Transition Night for middle school and high school students and parents who have IEPs.

 

O) Our next Elementary Faculty meeting is Tuesday, March 20 -------- I apologize for having to postpone the meeting for a week..  We will meet in the Elem. Media Center  promptly at 3:30.

 Tentatively the dates for our spring meetings will be March 28, April 10, May 1, and May 15. 

Remember when you are presenting  with your group around the book study.

 

P) North Iowa Community School Blood Drive ---- Thursday, March 15  (the Ides of March!!!!!).

 

Q) BOOK  STUDY  FORMAT:   10-15 minutes of team-led discussion regarding the chapter followed by an activity which challenges us to implement something learned in that portion of the book.   Each elementary faculty member will share their implementation.  

Every faculty member will take part in the book study.

Those taking the book study for credit will have extra things to complete.
