ADDITIONAL  ITEMS:

  It is the educational philosophy of the North Iowa School District that the school should actively develop a partnership involving parents and the community.  The purpose of the partnership is to help insure the learner achieve success.

  Long Term Science Achievement Goal: All K-12 students will achieve at high levels in science, prepared for success beyond high school. 

 

• After School Special for students in grades 4 or 5 each Tuesday night from 3:30-4:30 in the Elementary Media Center.   Be sure to send notes home to parents of participants and notify Dyanna and Sheryl of those who will need to ride the 5:15 shuttle bus.

 

  Lakota Pancake Day ---- Saturday, March 21 ----10:00-1:00 --- fire station.

 

  LAST  ROUND  OF  BULLYING  TRAINING  for  ALL  employees  was this past week.  The weather messed up our schedule a bit so we had to go to “Plan B”  --- as a result a make-up day will be scheduled at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 3.

 

   K-8 spring pictures ---- March 19 ----- YES  I  TYPED  “SPRING!”

 

·         Kindergarten  Round-up will take place March 31. 

 

·         We have missed several days due to snow or dangerously cold temperatures.  Listed below are the days missed and the make-up days.

·         Tuesday, June 2 is a professional development day due to snow days.

 

 

·         Help support the music program on Thursday TUESDAY (March 3) for our annual Pep Band concert.

 

  Parent-Teacher Conferences will be March 24 and March 26.

 

·         March 4 is an early dismissal for staff development (1:30/1:50).

 

·         March 30 is a full day for staff development ----- NO  SCHOOL  FOR   STUDENTS.

 

·         Mr. Hill speaks to a group on Monday, March 2, regarding RSVP and the Reading Buddies program.

 

·         “PROCEDURES   MUST  BE  PRACTICED.”   Harry Wong ------ Recess rules need to be practiced.  Lining up when the whistle blows is a procedure.  Practice it ---- explain the purpose for the rule.  Be consistent in how the rule is enforced.   Now that we have returned from Christmas it is especially important to review procedures and practice them over and over again.

 

  Reading is Fundamental program March 5 for parents of preschoolers.

 

   Next “DINNER  WITH  DAD”  is scheduled for Tuesday, March 17.

 

  Respect and Responsibility -------------- How often do your students use the phases “PLEASE”  and  “THANK YOU?”.

 

Cold and Flu season is upon us.   Remind students to wash their hands frequently.  Get plenty of rest.

 

·         Special Education Team meeting ---- Thursday, March 12– 4:00 --- AEA meeting room

 

·         We are hosting several college students during the second semester as they complete their clinical experience.  They are future teachers and we want them to feel part of our school and welcome.  They come here to learn from the best teachers in northern Iowa.  Give them things to do and responsibilities in your classroom.  I thank each of you for sharing y our expertise ---- you are helping shape the future.
