GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

A) BOARD GOALS

It is the goal of the North Iowa Community School District to partner with parents and community leaders/organizations to address the needs of children and parents in order to maximize every child’s ability, regardless of age, to enter school ready to learn.

 

B) ANNUAL PROGRESS GOALS

Reading

Long Term Goal: All K-12 students will achieve at high levels in reading comprehension, prepared for success beyond high school.

 

Annual Goal: To increase percent of students in grades 3-8 and 10 scoring at or above grade level on the vocabulary subtest of the Gates MacGinitie Reading Assessment.

E) WE WILL  TRY  THIS  ONE  MORE  TIME

     We will host the clergy who are members of the North Iowa Ministerial Association for lunch on Thursday. 

     They will hold their monthly meeting in the AEA meeting room in the early afternoon.

     This is a make-up meeting due to snow last week.

 

F)  Support Staff Evaluation,  Self-Assessment, and Time Audits are due during the next couple of weeks.

What criteria will you use to measure student achievement? 

 

H) I THINK MRS. KLATT AND MISS MERRON HAVE DONE A GREAT JOB.  Stop and congratulate them on the job they have done in their student teaching experience.

 

I) Lions and tigers and bears  -----  OH   MY !!!!   Yes it is Kindergarten Circus time again.    Make sure we include some academic work between the practices.   It is a fun time for students, parents, and grandparents.

 

J)  BUSY TIME OF YEAR---- we host several tournament games ---- leave your room in great shape in case it is needed.  Mr. Diercks will notify you if they plan to use your room.

 

K) I have conducted three assessments of the use of “PLEASE”  and/or  “THANK YOU”  over the past month.  The number of students using one or both of those terms in a given situation has increased.    GOOD  JOB.  You are setting the expectations and we all hope it will become a norm rather than an exception.

 

L) March 17 ---- the end of the third quarter.   Are you on track to meet your academic goals with students?  Where do you see the standards and benchmarks being met with your students?

M) Wellness Committee meeting is MARCH 2 at 6:00 p.m. in the HS Media Center.

 

N) ELECTRONIC  GRADE  BOOK  COMMITTEE:  Connie Brooks, Allen Twait, Sue Sime, Louise Hagedorn.   Our remaining meetings will be  MARCH 20.  We have tabled any further work until we get a good handle on benchmarks and defining mastery.

P)   The North Iowa Home Page is the gauge we use to determine if we go outside for recess or not.  IT the air temperature  OR  wind chill is at or below  ZERO  we will have indoor recess.  As long as the temperature is above zero we will go outside.  Exceptions will be rain or wet snow.
