ADDITIONAL  ITEMS:

 

     Board Goal:  We must help students understand and acquire the skills, knowledge, attitudes, and values necessary to participate in a democratic society.

 

     Math annual achievement goal:  The percent of students scoring proficient  (70%) on the District Computation Test (grades 2-8) and the District Algebra test (grade 10) will increase using two-year averaging.

 

• After School Special begins for grades 4 and 5 next week. The first session will be Tuesday, February 24 from 3:30-4:30 in the Elementary Media Center.

 

  Oh Lutefisk ---- Oh Lutefisk ------- YES the annual Lutefisk supper in Rake is coming up February 28.

 

  LAST  ROUND  OF  BULLYING  TRAINING  for  ALL  employees will be Wednesday, February 25 at the middle school at 7:30 a.m., 8:30 a.m., and 4:00 p.m. and will be held in the ICN room.    The training at the Elementary/High School will be on Thursday, February 26 at 7:30 a.m., 8:30 a.m., and 4:00 p.m. and will also be held in the ICN room.

 

   Congrats to the 4th graders, Mrs. Brooks, and Mrs. Hagedorn on the “Presidents on Parade” program last Friday.

 

·         Stebens Children’s Theater group will be here to perform on Tuesday, February 17 at 2:00 p.m.----- we wll be sitting on the auditorium stage floor ------ grade 1 should begin moving ot the stage about 1:55 ---2nd and 3rd grad should move to the stage by 1:57 and everyone else at 1:59.  Visit with students regarding good citizenship and proper etiquette.

 

·         We have missed several days due to snow or dangerously cold temperatures.  Listed below are the days missed and the make-up days.

·         Tuesday, June 2 is a professional development day due to snow days.

 

·         Next “COFFEE  ON  THE  SUPE”  will be February 20 in Rake.

 

·         We will host the FFA sub-district contest here on Monday, February 23.

 

·         “PROCEDURES   MUST  BE  PRACTICED.”   Harry Wong ------ Recess rules need to be practiced.  Lining up when the whistle blows is a procedure.  Practice it ---- explain the purpose for the rule.  Be consistent in how the rule is enforced.   Now that we have returned from Christmas it is especially important to review procedures and practice them over and over again.

 

  Pep Band Concert ----- Thursday, February 26.

 

   We will host the North Iowa Ministerial Association here for lunch and their regular meeting on Tuesday, February 24.

 

  Respect and Responsibility -------------- How often do your students use the phases “PLEASE”  and  “THANK YOU?”.

 

Cold and Flu season is upon us.   Remind students to wash their hands frequently.  Get plenty of rest.

 

·         Special Education Team meeting ---- Thursday, March 12– 4:00 --- AEA meeting room

 

·         Our custodians will be going through some mandatory training on February 18 and February 20 in the early p.m.

 

·         We are hosting several college students during the second semester as they complete their clinical experience.  They are future teachers and we want them to feel part of our school and welcome.  They come here to learn from the best teachers in northern Iowa.  Give them things to do and responsibilities in your classroom.  I thank each of you for sharing y our expertise ---- you are helping shape the future.
