D) We will host the clergy who are members of the North Iowa Ministerial Association for lunch on Thursday.  They will hold their monthly meeting in the AEA meeting room in the early afternoon.

E)  Thank you for the wonderful   SUPPORT  STAFF  meetings last week.  I know we went a little long  BUT  they were important topics and FANTASTIC  questions.

F)  FEBRUARY  15 ---- Elem. Faculty Meeting --- Math benchmark suggestions are due at that time.

      Is the benchmark appropriate?

What criteria will you use to measure student achievement?

Is the benchmark important enough to require every child master that skill before advancing to the next grade?

If there is only one benchmark under a standard---- is that an adequate measure of the developmentally appropriate mastery of that skill   OR   should there be more than one benchmark?

G) We greatly appreciate your student teachers.

We thank those who have permitted student teachers to be part of their normal classroom setting.  You serve as wonderful role models.

H)  We have a wonderfully gifted group of substitute teachers on our sub list.  We make every attempt to try and give them all a chance to be part of our system and also expose our students to a variety of personalities who have been called to teach.

I) We begin hosting tournament action this week for basketball.  We want to be good hosts.  Take moment to police your part of the building.  We want to look our best.

J) March 17 ---- the end of the third quarter.

Are you on track to meet your academic goals with students?

Where do you see the standards and benchmarks being met with your students?

K) Wellness Committee meeting is MARCH 2 at 6:00 p.m. in the HS Media Center.

L) ELECTRONIC  GRADE  BOOK  COMMITTEE:  Connie Brooks, Allen Twait, Sue Sime, Louise Hagedorn.   Our remaining meetings will be  MARCH 20.  We have tabled any further work until we get a good handle on benchmarks and defining mastery.

M) “I learned the most from those around me who have had to struggle to become successful.  I have learned the most about myself in defeat --- in areas I did not have success.  That built my character.”  Simon Estes, October 12, 2005.

N) The North Iowa Home Page is the gauge we use to determine if we go outside for recess or not.  IT the air temperature  OR  wind chill is at or below  ZERO  we will have indoor recess.  As long as the temperature is above zero we will go outside.  Exceptions will be rain or wet snow.
