GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

A) BOARD GOALS

It is the goal of the North Iowa Community School District to reflect a student centered atmosphere in every offering or action taken by the school board, administrative team, faculty, and support staff.

 

B) ANNUAL PROGRESS GOALS

Math

Long Term Goal: All K-12 students will achieve at high levels in mathematics, prepared for success beyond high school.

 

Annual Goal: The percent of students scoring proficient (70%) on the district Computation Test (grades 2-8) and the district Algebra Test (grade 10) will increase using two-year averaging.

 

 C) The bulk of winter is behind us.   February begins this week.   Spring can only be a few weeks away.  What will the groundhog say??????

 

D) Do I smell hot dogs cooking on a grill?????    Is spring in the air?????

 

E) Teacher evaluations have gone well.   Are you collecting samples for each of the criteria?

 

F) “PLEASE”      “THANK YOU”     “EXCUSE ME”   

These are the words I am listening for.   

We are building good character one child at a time and one act at a time.

 

G) I am very proud of our student body and how they acted at the KENGMO.assembly.   Very respectful and attentive. Thank you teachers for all your coaching.

 

H) What can you do this week to return to the KENGMO presentation and keep the lesson alive in the minds of our students?

 

I) March 17 ---- the end of the third quarter.   Are you on track to meet your academic goals with students?

 

J) FEBRUARY  15 ---- Elem. Faculty Meeting --- Math benchmark suggestions are due at that time.

 

K) Wellness Committee meeting is February 2 at 6:00 p.m. in the HS Media Center.

 

L) ELECTRONIC  GRADE  BOOK  COMMITTEE:  Connie Brooks, Allen Twait, Sue Sime, Louise Hagedorn.   Our remaining meeting will be  MARCH 20.  We have tabled any further work until we get a good handle on benchmarks and defining mastery.

N) Mr. Hill will be tutoring a high school student some days before school, some days after school, some Saturdays.    If you can not locate him during those sessions have Rena page him on his radio.

 

O)  The North Iowa Home Page is the gauge we use to determine if we go outside for recess or not.  IT the air temperature  OR  wind chill is at or below  ZERO  we will have indoor recess.  As long as the temperature is above zero we will go outside.   Exceptions will be rain or wet snow.

 

P) Invent Iowa will take place the afternoon of February 10th.
