GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

A) ESSENTIAL LEARNINGS

     North Iowa students will be life-long learners.  Life-long learners:

*demonstrate self-sufficiency/self-directed learning,

*demonstrate perserverance.

 

B) ANNUAL PROGRESS GOALS

Culture Climate for Learning

Long Term Goal: North Iowa students will treat each other respectfully.

 

Annual Goal: The percent of students responding 3 or higher on question 6 of the Building Tomorrow Survey will increase.

 

C)   January 16 is Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.   What can each person do in their classroom to honor that day and the efforts Dr. King stood for regarding equality, social justice, and non-violent protest?  I will forward to you a copy of Dr. King’s “I Have A Dream” speech ---- do with it as you see fit.

 

D) KENGMO  Assembly will take place Monday, January 23.   The assembly will be in the north gym and will begin promptly at 10:00.   We will be utilizing seating similar to what we do for Homecoming.

 

E) What can we do to help our students have a greater understanding of the KENGMO assembly?    What can we do prior to the event and what can we do as follow-up on several dates after the event?

 

F) O U T S T A N D I N G

G) FEBRUARY  15 ---- Elem. Faculty Meeting --- Math benchmark suggestions are due at that time.

 

H) We keep the Valvick family in our thoughts.

 

I) ELECTRONIC  GRADE  BOOK  COMMITTEE:  Connie Brooks, Allen Twait, Sue Sime, Louise Hagedorn.   Our remaining meetings will be  January 23, February 6.  We will meet in the HS media center at 3:40.  WE  ARE   MAKING  HUGE  PROGRESS !

K) Next Special Education Team meeting will take place in the Elementary Media Center on January 18 at 3:40 p.m.

 

L) District Advisory Committee  meeting is January 26 at 7:00 p.m. in the High School Media Center.

 

M)  The North Iowa Home Page is the gauge we use to determine if we go outside for recess or not.  IT the air temperature  OR  wind chill is at or below  ZERO  we will have indoor recess.  As long as the temperature is above zero we will go outside.   Exceptions will be rain or wet snow.

 

N)  The auditorium renovation gets back into full swing the next few weeks.   Dust and noise will be common.   The end product will be worth the wait and the inconvenience.

 

O) All-School Reunion Organizational Meeting ---- Saturday, January 28 --- 9:00 a.m. --- Commons.   This All-School Reunion will be for all graduates of North Iowa, BCRLTT, BCRLT, BCRL, BCR, Lakota, Thompson, and  Rake.  This is a celebration of education. This is a celebration of forward thinking ancestors. This is a celebration of those bold enough to take a stand for what was right for kids.  Let’s celebrate.

Q) 2nd annual Freethrow Contest Sunday, January 22 at the NIHS north gym.  Walk-in registration at 1 pm with the shootout to begin at 1:30.  Nine age divisions for both boys and girls, beginning with age 7 and under and up to age 15 and over, will be competing for first place medals and ribbons for second and third place finishers.

Come enjoy the fun - no admission - mininal concession stand available - sponsored by Farmers Trust and Savings Bank - event run by NI Athletic Boosters.

 

R) Please have your report cards to Rena by Wednesday noon.  She will compile each families to go in one envelop to be sent home in paper packet with youngest child on Friday.
