Reading Achievement Goal Long Term Goal:  All K-12 students will achieve at high levels in reading comprehension, prepared for success beyond high school..

·         January 13 is a 1:30/1:50 dismissal for teacher inservice.   If you have a desire to visit another school in the p.m. and learn a new strategy from another teacher in another district --- this would be the perfect day to do that.   If you can pool a group together I will gladly free up a school vehicle to use.

·         December 9 was a snow day ---- we will make that day up on Friday, February 13.  December 19 was also a snow day --- that day will be made up on Thursday, April 9.

·         Mr. Hill represents the North Iowa Community School District and the western half of Winnebago County on the Community Cares Coalition group.  This is a meeting of regional agencies, businesses, and governmental bodies designed to help those in need during this period of extreme economic downturn.  Our goal is to get the resources in the hands of individuals and families in need..

·         “PROCEDURES   MUST  BE  PRACTICED.”   Harry Wong ------ Recess rules need to be practiced.  Lining up when the whistle blows is a procedure.  Practice it ---- explain the purpose for the rule.  Be consistent in how the rule is enforced.   Now that we have returned from Christmas it is especially important to review procedures and practice them over and over again.

•   Design Team Retreat will be Saturday, January 10 at the Eagle Center in Lakota.  Details will come from Mr. Evans.

•   Next elementary faculty meeting is Wednesday, January 21.

•  Respect and Responsibility -------------- How often do your students use the phases “PLEASE”  and  “THANK YOU?”.

• Your webpage should be up and running.  Keep in mind no one is required to put personal information on their webpage if they are not comfortable sharing that information.   The purpose behind your webpage is to be another communications tool with parents (assignments, useful websites, spelling lists, upcoming events, etc.).

• Cold and Flu season is upon us.   Remind students to wash their hands frequently.  Get plenty of rest.

. •  Bullying and Harassment ------ recess supervisors need to be aggressive in the prevention of any type of bullying or unsportsmanlike conduct ----- notes home to parents --- denial of recess activities ---- notification of the classroom teacher ---- we need to be proactive.

·         Kindergarten Circus ---- Friday, January 30.
