A) OUR EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

B) ANNUAL PROGRESS GOALS

Reading

Long Term Goal: All K-12 students will achieve at high levels in reading comprehension, prepared for success beyond high school.

 

Annual Goal: To increase percent of students in grades 3-8 and 10 scoring at or above grade level on the vocabulary subtest of the Gates macGinitie Reading Assessment.

 

C) Please mark your calendars that Marlys Ebaugh, audiologist will be in my office at the BC building on 01-16-07 around 9 am to do hearing follow up.  Students will be called out of class as needed. 

She will travel to the ICN room at Thompson when she finishes at BC  (probably after lunch).  LeAnn, please schedule the ICN room for 1-16-07 from 12:30 pm until 1:30 pm. 

 

If you would like to refer a student for a hearing evaluation, please let me know so that parents can be contacted for permission.

E)  Thank you and congratulations for all your hard work and laughter during our December 21 and January 3 teacher inservice days.   Well done.

 

F)   “ALBORADA” assembly will be Monday, January 15, 2007.  The assembly will be held in the auditorium and is for ALL  K-Prep through Grade 12 students.   We will begin promptly at 8:30. Teachers have an e-mail regarding specifics for the assembly.

 

    PLAN and implement a follow-up activity for Tuesday or Wednesday so the assembly becomes a learning experience and a teachable moment and not just a single event.

 

G) “DINNER  WITH  DAD” is a grant funded program centered on helping fathers, grandfathers,  or other significant male in the life of a child, to have a night out together and at the same time learn some parenting skills to make life together smoother and educationally productive.  We will spend time on social skills, character development, and reading strategies.  It will be fun. The program is for dads and their 4, 5, or 6 year old daughter or son.

 

H)  Our next Elementary Faculty meeting is Tuesday, January 16.  We will meet in the Elem. Media Center at 3:40.  Tentatively the dates for our spring meetings will be February 13, February 27, March 13, March 28, April 10, May 1, and May 15.  Remember when you are presenting  with your group around the book study.

 

I) BOOK  STUDY  FORMAT:   10-15 minutes of team-led discussion regarding the chapter followed by an activity which challenges us to implement something learned in that portion of the book.   Each elementary faculty member will share their implementation.  

Brenda Geitzenauer will contact us in the near future regarding renewal credit.

 

 J)  Special Education teacher will meet with members of the AEA 267 staff for training for the Compliance Review.  The meeting will take place at the North Iowa Middle School Access Lab and will begin promptly at 2:00 on Friday, January 12, 2007.

L) Personal leave is dependent on the availability of  a substitute.  Plan ahead.

 

M)  Faculty Forum will be Tuesday, January 9 ----- you have an e-mail with the reading for discussion --- keep in mind there is time for a wide range of potential questions and discussion regarding other issues.
